SPACE   Supporting Parents of children with Autism/ADHD and related conditions

Space is run by parents who have children with additional needs. This helps as they know how you are feeling and what daily battles you go through as a family. Space have seven support groups throughout Hertfordshire which meet up once a month in term time. At these groups there will be a speaker or coffee and chat sessions. Space have regular professional speakers, workshops & seminars, social events plus a library of books to borrow and they arrange family days out.

SPOCAN [Supporting Parents Of Children with Additional Needs] – Cheshunt

A support group run by parents, for parents/carers, professionals with children/young people with additional needs such as Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD) or related conditions (diagnosed or not).  This is a great opportunity to meet up, make new friends, share information, stay up-to-date with new ways to help your child in a friendly setting.  Special guest speakers for our monthly meetings. All volunteers have experience with special needs children.

ADD-vance Support Group Meetings

ADD-vance is a registered charity set up in Hertfordshire in 1996 to support and empower adults, children and families with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and related conditions in Hertfordshire.

ADD-vance holds regular support group meetings in West and East Herts for parents and carers. Meetings are very informal, with tea/coffee and mutual support. Specialist coaches who are also parents of Autism/ADHD children and young adults are on hand to make the sessions go smoothly and are available for private discussion.  There is a lending library and leaflets and other information to take home. Angels – North Herts

Angels is a parent led voluntary organisation and Registered Charity set up in North Hertfordshire to support parents and carers of children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and/or Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD).  Visit their website (Angels) for more information.

Parent support group for CHIPS (Children’s Integrated Playschemes) – for parents of children with additional needs. Informal friendly group meeting monthly in Hertford during term time.  Visit their website ( for details of their programmes.

Hitchin Lego Club

Hitchin LEGO Club was set up by parents who wanted an opportunity for children with autism to share their love of LEGO® with others and develop their communication skills and provide them with an opportunity to make new friends.

It also gives parents and carers the opportunity to meet others who may be able to share experiences and offer mutual support.

The club is run on a voluntary basis, for no profit or payment and operates during term time on the first and third Saturday of the month.  See the Facebook page for details or contact

St Albans Lego Club

An opportunity for children/young adults to create, socialise and develop friendships. Also gives parents and carers the opportunity to share experiences and offer mutual support.

Holland Group – Croxley Green

Evening social group of parents of children with special needs – meet others in the same situation in a relaxed, friendly environment. Have a drink, a chat and a chance to learn from others and to relax! The group takes place on the last Tuesday of every month from 7.30 pm at The Red House, Watford Road, Croxley Green, Herts.
