NAS Hertfordshire Branch Meetings

The Hertfordshire branch of the National Autistic Society holds several branch meetings each year. Our aim is to get speakers for these meetings on subjects we hope will be of interest to members of our branch, professionals and the public. We welcome suggestions for speakers and items to be discussed. Please contact us if you have any ideas we can use. We also organise workshops and coffee mornings in specific areas of the county. If you would like to organise coffee mornings/afternoons in your area, please contact us.

Below are listed the dates and other details of our next meetings together with meetings provided by other organisations.

Our Next Meeting is on Thursday 17th November 2016

Join us for a School Exclusions Seminar for parents, presented by Andy Cutting, NAS Specialist Exclusions & Alternative Provision Advice Coordinator. The talk will cover official exclusions (fixed period and permanent), and also informal (unlawful) exclusions, internal exclusions, part-time timetables, managed moves and the exclusion of pupils on the autism spectrum from school trips and afterschool clubs.

Some of the steps schools could take to overcome barriers to learning and thus avoid the need for exclusion will also be discussed, together with a school’s duty to make reasonable adjustments to its policies and practices for pupils with disabilities (under the Equality Act 2010).

No need to book, but please email so that we have an idea of numbers.

When: Thursday 17th November 2016

Time: 7.30 pm – 9.00 pm

Where: Oxlease House, Travellers Lane, Hatfield, Herts. AL10 8TJ (Situated in the grounds of Hatfield Leisure Centre)
